Addison Regional Training Center
Training Today. Preparing for Tomorrow.
The Addison Regional Training Center serves as a specialized training facility for Addison Fire & EMS and our public safety partners throughout the surrounding region. The Training Center provides firefighters, EMS personnel, and other emergency responders with access to realistic, hands-on training opportunities designed to improve skills, strengthen teamwork, and enhance emergency preparedness.
Through grant funding received in 2008 and 2009, Addison Fire & EMS was able to acquire specialized training equipment that significantly expanded the department's training capabilities. Today, the Regional Training Center maintains five specialized training trailers, allowing personnel to practice critical skills in realistic and controlled environments.
Mobile Training Unit (MTU)
The Mobile Training Unit (MTU) is a 53-foot enclosed, multi-purpose live-fire training system designed to provide firefighters with realistic fireground training.

The MTU allows firefighters to experience changing fire conditions and practice essential fireground skills in a controlled training environment.
Smoke House & Fire Safety Education
The Smoke House Training Trailer supports Addison Fire & EMS's commitment to public education and fire prevention throughout the tri-county area.
Primarily used for school-age children and community education programs, the Smoke House provides an interactive environment where participants can learn what to do during a fire emergency. The trailer can safely simulate smoke conditions, allowing participants to practice important concepts such as staying low beneath smoke, identifying safe exits, and evacuating a building during an emergency.
This hands-on approach helps make fire safety education both memorable and practical for the children and families we serve.
Flammable Liquids & Gas (FLAG) Training
The Flammable Liquids and Gas (FLAG) Trailer provides firefighters with specialized training involving fires associated with propane, natural gas, flammable liquids, and pressurized systems.

These props allow firefighters to practice fire control, hazard recognition, approach techniques, and coordination while working around flammable-liquid and gas emergencies.
Forcible Entry Training
The Forcible Entry Trailer contains multiple training props that allow firefighters to develop and maintain the skills necessary to gain access to structures during emergency situations. Personnel can practice various forcible-entry techniques in a controlled environment, helping firefighters improve proficiency while reinforcing safe and effective tool use.

The Addison Regional Training Center represents our department's continued commitment to training, preparedness, and regional cooperation. The facility and its specialized equipment provide opportunities for firefighters and emergency responders to develop and maintain the skills necessary to safely and effectively serve their communities.
By making realistic training opportunities available locally, the Training Center helps strengthen not only Addison Fire & EMS, but also the capabilities of our neighboring and regional public safety partners.
Emergency Response Capability
The Regional Training Center is not a continuously staffed station. However, emergency apparatus is housed at the facility to provide additional response capabilities when needed.

These apparatus may be utilized by available off-duty personnel responding to emergency incidents, providing additional resources to support department operations.
